Karen Hale Sineath

Karen Hale Sineath, 58, of Lake Gaston, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Karen was a native of Eden, North Carolina, located in Rockingham County. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Edith May Rickman Hale.

Karen was a graduate of Western Carolina University. She was a retired school teacher from Everetts Elementary School in Halifax County.

Karen was a member of Littleton Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. She was known affectionately as ‘Granny’ to all the children.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Jim, and their beloved dog, Feather, of the home; her father, Jesse T. Hale, Sr., of Eden; her three sisters, Melinda H. Joyce and her husband, Lemmie, of Eden, Denise H. Blakeney and her husband, Jim, of Pearisburg, Va., Susan H. Walker and her husband, Greg, of Clemmons; and her brother, J.T. Hale, Jr. and Doris of Eden; sister-in-law, Bronna Graham of Washington, NC; two brothers-in-law, Tom Sineath and his wife, Carol, of Burlington and Alex Sineath and his wife, Nancy, of Hilton Head, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Littleton Baptist Church in Littleton with Rev. Mike Currin officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. at Ridge View Cemetery in Eden. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the Church of the Brethren in Eden.

The family will also receive friends Thursday, May 19, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
